Jie Zhang
Pianist | Master’s Student at Maastricht Conservatorium
Jie Zhang, born in 2000 in China, is a classically trained pianist currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Piano Performance at Maastricht Conservatorium, studying under Jeroen Riemsdijk. Her playing is recognized for its expressive depth and versatility, shaped by a rich international background in both performance and music education.
She began studying piano in 2006, receiving private instruction from several distinguished pianists during her formative years. This early foundation led to a deep commitment to music, and she later entered university to pursue systematic and formal musical training.
Jie began her academic journey at Taizhou University, majoring in Music Education with a piano focus, where she also gained early teaching experience with students of various ages. She later studied Practical Music (Piano) at Chung-Ang University in South Korea, exploring contemporary approaches to performance, arranging, and composition.
Her performance experience spans both solo repertoire and accompaniment, regularly collaborating with vocalists, instrumentalists, and choirs. She has worked as a rehearsal pianist and accompanist in various contexts, bringing strong musical sensitivity and adaptability to each collaboration.
At Maastricht Conservatorium, she continues to refine her solo playing and develop her collaborative artistry through chamber music and accompaniment.
Dedicated to both performance and teaching, Jie integrates her pedagogical background and artistic insight to support students of all ages and levels. She offers lessons in Mandarin, English, and Korean, and is passionate about fostering cross-cultural musical understanding and personal expression through music.
In addition to teaching, Jie is actively available for chamber music and accompaniment projects. Whether working in collaboration or performing solo, she is committed to sharing meaningful musical experiences with audiences and fellow musicians alike.
